Release codes
Check your ISRCs before the distributor does.
Paste the codes, one per line, with or without dashes. Each one is checked against the ISRC shape and, when it fails, the page says which part broke. Add your Spotify and Apple Music artist links if you want those ids read out too. Nothing is looked up and nothing leaves this page.
The codes that pass can go straight into a run. Start a release with these codes: they go in as material, with the artist ids. Still missing a date? Count back from release day. Splits not written down? Make the split sheet.
Questions
What does an ISRC look like?
Twelve characters: a two-letter country code, a three-character registrant code, two digits for the year, and a five-digit designation. US-RC1-76-07839 is one. Dashes and spaces are for reading; the code is the same without them.
If a code passes, is it right?
It is well formed. ISRC has no check digit, so a typo that keeps the shape still passes. Copy codes from your distributor's dashboard rather than retyping them.
Where do I get an ISRC?
Most distributors assign one per recording when you upload. If you register your own, the code comes from your national ISRC agency. A new mix or edit is a new recording and gets a new code.
